I pre-painted the background elements the night before so I could work with my paint pens on the ferry.

So fun playing with what’s “real” versus what’s reflected, in the frame. Definitely a challenge to get the proportions and lighting accurate since I wasn’t working from a reference photo ~ but I’m pretty pleased with the result.

My favourite card deck, @thestarseed_oracle has a card called The Courageous Peony that felt very relevant ~ “Multi-faceted, unique nature. Let yourself be seen. The courageous peony is here to remind you that it’s safe to embody all of who you truly are”

It really resonated and when the dragon card appeared I had a vivid vision of this piece. Also my favourite dragon is the Crystal dragon in The Fionavar Tapestry series by Guy Gavriel Kay so it was the perfect opportunity to merge the two inspirations
