These paintings are part of a series called “Everyday Saints.” To me, a Saint is someone who little by little, through their own small defiant actions, makes the world a better place.
In the midst of the daily societal shifts that are occurring, small accomplishments feel monumental, and nature is an irreplaceable solace. We are spending a significant amount of time outside of our Comfort Zones, individually and collectively. We are wending our way through life wrapped in our own shields of protection, while simultaneously attempting to heal as a global community. The ideas of being lost in the woods, trapped in a storm or on the edge of a precipice are often associated with negative emotions; however, in this instance I am representing the joy and lightness that comes from intentionally reconnecting with our roots.
These pieces represent the adventure available in embracing the unknown, putting one foot in front of the other, and continuing to move forward, which in my opinion is a very courageous endeavour.
